What Marram stores, and where
Your reflections, check-ins, programme progress, voice notes, the region you optionally choose for crisis support, and the person you optionally name to call. All of it is written to an encrypted database on the device itself. The encryption key is held in the platform keystore — Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android — and never leaves it. Voice recordings are encrypted as separate files alongside it.
What Marram sends
Nothing from the app. The Android release build removes the internet permission entirely, so it cannot open a network connection even in error. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, and no third-party SDK that phones home. There is no Marram server for your writing to go to, because there is no Marram server.
The exceptions, named honestly
Three things do reach us or pass through someone else's hands. None of them involve what you write in the app, and saying “nothing, ever” while they exist would be the kind of claim that makes the rest of this page worth less.
- If you email us. Writing to support@drengr.dev sends us your address and your message. We use it to answer you, keep it only as long as that takes, and share it with nobody. Ask us to delete it and we will.
- Visiting this website. This page has no cookies, no analytics and no forms. But like any site it is delivered through hosting infrastructure — Cloudflare — which briefly and automatically processes connection information such as your IP address in order to serve the page and absorb abuse. We do not ask for it and do not look at it. It is how the plumbing works.
- Crash reports you opted into. If you have told your phone, at the operating-system level, to share diagnostics with developers, Apple or Google may pass us aggregated crash reports through their own tools. We embed no crash-reporting software of our own — but we cannot promise the platform never surfaces anything at all.
The two exceptions, both started by you
- Tapping a crisis number opens your phone's dialler. Marram does not place the call and does not know whether you did.
- Tapping the international helpline directory opens findahelpline.com in your browser. That is a separate organisation with its own privacy policy.
Exporting your notes for an appointment uses your phone's own share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice, and Marram is not part of it.
Speech
If you record a voice note, transcription runs on the device. Marram explicitly requests on-device recognition; where a phone cannot do it, Marram turns transcription off and tells you, rather than sending your voice somewhere.
Backups
Marram opts out of iCloud Backup and of Android's cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. This is deliberate: it is the difference between "stays on your phone" being true and being nearly true. It also means a new phone starts empty.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled by Apple and Google. Marram never sees your card, your name, or your billing address — only whether a subscription is currently active.
If you are in the UK or EU
We are not going to tell you that data protection law does not apply to us. The test for who is a “controller” is about who decides the purposes and means of processing, not who happens to hold the data — and we wrote the code. What is true is narrower and more useful: for everything you write in the app, there is nothing for us to look up, correct, hand over or delete, because we never receive it. Only you can delete it, in the app or by removing it.
For the one thing we do receive — an email you chose to send us — we are a controller in the ordinary way, and you have the ordinary rights: ask what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, and complain to your data protection authority if you think we have handled it badly. We have no Data Protection Officer; we are one person, and we are well under the threshold that requires one.
California
We do not sell or share personal information, and we are nowhere near the thresholds that bring a business under the CCPA. The honest answer is the same one as above: the only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to send us by email.
Children
Marram is written for adults going through perimenopause and menopause. It is not directed at children.
Deleting everything
Uninstalling removes the database, the voice notes and the key together. There is no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and no request for us to process.
Not medical care
Marram offers reflection and gentle practices. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice, and it is not an emergency service.
